Anagram Solver FAQ
What is an anagram?
An anagram is a word or phrase formed by rearranging all the letters of another word or phrase. For example, LISTEN is an anagram of SILENT — both use the exact same letters (E, I, L, N, S, T). Unlike the word unscrambler (which finds words using any subset of letters), the anagram solver requires using every letter exactly the number of times it appears.
What is the difference between an anagram and word unscrambling?
Word unscrambling finds words using some or all of your letters. Anagram solving finds words using all of your letters exactly. For example, entering RACEHS into the unscrambler returns ARCHES, SEARCH, CHARS, HARES, EARS and more. The anagram solver returns only words that use all 6 letters.
Are there words with the most anagrams?
Some letter combinations have many anagrams. The letters A, E, L, P, S can form LAPSE, LEAPS, PALES, PEALS, PLEAS, SEPAL, SPALE — seven common words. Other prolific anagram sets include AERTS (ASTER, RATES, STARE, TEARS, TARES) and AENRS (EARNS, NEARS, RANES, SANER, SNARE).
